Richmond Hill runs from established streets around Mill Pond, where the houses date to the 70s and 80s and the trees are fully grown, up to Oak Ridges and Jefferson, where much of the housing is barely twenty years old. The two halves need different attention.

Mature-tree neighbourhoods mean pollen in May and fine grit on sills and blinds the rest of the year. Newer Jefferson and Oak Ridges builds have more glass, taller ceilings and more stair spindles. Along Yonge Street the condos are compact and hard-floored, and most buildings take concierge key drop-off.

Local tip: In the older Mill Pond and Observatory streets, adding baseboards ($40) to a standard clean once or twice a year does more visible good than upgrading the whole booking to a deep clean.
