Most of Maple, Patterson and Vellore Village went up after 2000, which means open-plan main floors, double-height entryways, big windows and a lot of uninterrupted floor — and a second-floor laundry that gets missed by half the cleaners in the GTA.

Newer does not mean quicker. A 2,800 sq ft Vaughan home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a two-storey foyer is more glass and more stair spindles than an older house twice its age.
